LiDAR Focusing

For the first time, DJI is introducing a LiDAR focusing system as a stand-alone product, allowing a broad base of users to experiment with new focusing possibilities freely.

Redesigned handle, all-around capability

The new DJI Focus Pro Grip features a 2.5-hour power supply, intuitive on-screen operations, automatic calibration for 15 lenses, start/stop recording via Bluetooth, and portable shooting capabilities, providing an exceptional LiDAR focus experience even without a Ronin stabilizer.

LiDAR’s human subject focusing distance is now extended to 20 meters, about three times that of the previous generation, 3 which can effortlessly handle telephoto shooting.

The updated LiDAR now boasts 76,800 distance points, 77% more than the previous generation, 3 improving human subject edge detection and effectively reducing focus search. In addition, with a LiDAR update rate of 30 Hz, focus locks reliably even when the subject is moving rapidly.

Thanks to the innovative AMF mode applied for the first time to both the Hand Unit and the Grip, DJI Focus Pro sets a new standard for human-machine collaboration in focus control, meeting a wide range of creative needs.

Concentration you can feel

In AMF mode, while autofocus is in operation, the front wheel on the Grip (or the focus knob on the Manual Unit) rotates simultaneously. This allows filmmakers to both visually observe the focus status on the monitor and intuitively sense the autofocus logic through tactile feedback from their fingertips, enabling timely decisions on when to intervene manually.

Selection between Manual and Automatic at the millisecond level

Focus control will always be at your fingertips. In AMF mode, manual focus control can be turned on and off in milliseconds. This not only accurately captures the operator’s intent, ensuring a consistent visual narrative, but also significantly increases efficiency on set by reducing interruptions due to focus mode changes.

Focusing assistance with top view

With DJI Focus Pro’s LiDAR, filmmakers will be able to gain a more intuitive understanding of a subject’s spatial location and use LiDAR 4Waveform’s focus assistance through DJI’s High Brightness Remote Monitor, achieving a bird’s eye view of the entire scene.

In addition, the LiDAR Waveform provides additional information such as subject position, a real-time focal plane reference line, and a distance scale, which help assess the state of autofocus and anticipate the optimal time for manual intervention.
