In a single, essentially compact product, NAD condenses several technologies with which to centrally manage a complete, flexible and feature-rich entertainment system. It is the perfect product for the modern home, where formats and systems cross over, where audio sources are no longer the ones we know, or rather there are many others that are added to the traditional ones. The T 778 formally is a multi-channel receiver for home theater use, but in addition to the enveloping sounds of a spectacular movie it can handle so much more, starting with the ability to set up a BluOS network with which to use other compatible NAD, Bluesound and Dali products in multiroom and HD wireless modes.
The T 778’s Ethernet connection opens up additional possibilities for music listening, as are the various audio streaming services such as Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, and with them the wide world of web-radios. Still on the subject of networking, the IR and RS-232 connections should be highlighted: those that a good installer or system integrator will know how to use to include the T 778 in a home automation and multimedia control system, in combination with other products (such as those from Crestron and Control4 in particular) and multimedia platforms.
For the strictly home theater part, the T 778 fields decoding for Dolby Atmos and DTS Master Audio up to 7.2.4 channels; built-in Hybrid Digital type power section of 9x 85 nominal watts that become 165 in dynamic regime (up to 280 watts into 4 ohms). Watts that are declared following NAD’s internal standard known as FDP (Full Disclosure Power), i.e., with all channels used simultaneously and over the entire audio range: in practice, these are heavy “watts,” those that are really usable in daily use and not just mere technical data. 4K UHD pass-through support. Five HDMI inputs and two outputs with HDCP 2.2, 4:4:4, High Dynamic Range and Dolby Vision, CEC/ARC.
Built-in DIRAC Live environmental correction, whereby frequency response corrections can be made automatically or manually to remedy any resonance, rumble and distortion issues arising from the listening environment. An MDC (Modular Design Construction) slot is available to add boards and connections and with them new and future features to the whole machine. MM phono input.
